Atomic Vantage 95 W 2017 - 2016 Review by A Better Ski
The Atomic Vantage 95 W is a fun and versatile all-mountain ski for those who spends a lot of time on groomers, but also want to venture off piste. It’s a very capable carver, but has a ton of versatility for the days you want to explore other areas of the mountain.
Atomic Vantage 95 W On-Mountain Video Ski Review
Size: 170cm
Days: 1
Riders: Lauren
Conditions: Soft Chop, Groomed, Hard Pack
On the Snow Feel: The Atomic Vantage 95 W is a fun and energetic ski with a snappy and nimble feel. It has a semi-playful side and is quite approachable for a lot of skiers.
Turn Initiation and Carving: We found the Atomic Vantage 95 W to be quite approachable, and at slower speeds it’s easy to maneuver. The ski is forgiving and pretty easy to get on edge. At the same time, the ski is very responsive and when you get it on edge it wants to go. The ski has a lot of energy and very fun and snappy feel. It’s pretty quick from edge and edge. We also found it easy to vary turn shape and go from short radius to long radius turns and vice versa.
Speed: The ski has a pretty light weight and moderately soft flex. It feels pretty stable on edge, but didn’t feel totally at home skiing really fast. It handles moderate speeds well, and was really fun in medium radius turns. The ski was smooth and didn’t chatter even when going really fast.
Uneven/Variable Terrain: The Atomic Vantage 95 W feels like lit can get bounced around in deep chop, especially at speed. However, it’s really responsive and easy to maneuver around tracked out snow and bumps.
Edge Hold: Edge hold is pretty solid. It has a good amount of camber underfoot and a pretty stiff torsional rigidity. It wouldn’t be our go to on ice, but for firm groomers it was perfectly fine.
Bottom Line: The Atomic Vantage 95 W is a versatile all-mountain ski. It’s very responsive and has a fun and energetic feel. It handles speed and uneven terrain moderately well, but feels more at home carving short to medium radius turns on smooth groomers. If you’re looking for a fun and snappy ski that is quick and responsive, this could be your ski.
