Marmot Variant Vest 2016 Review by A Better Ski

The Marmot Variant Vest is a lightly insulated vest that is perfect for those who want light insulation under their technical shell, but don’t want to add a whole lot of weight or bulk. The Marmot Variant Vest is also perfectly fine for around the lodge, or for hitting the trail on a very mild day. It is made with a ripstop fabric with DWR, although when your arms are exposed, DWR doesn’t make a huge difference. The fit is true to size, and quite comfortable. It’s very low profile, and would fit under a technical shell even if that shell was a form fit. The Marmot Variant Vest does have stretch panels on the side and back. The vest also has elastic arm openings, and hem to help keep the heat in and cold out.
