2018 Marmot Featherless Hybrid jacket Review by A Better Ski

Let’s take a look at the Marmot Featherless Hybrid jacket.  It is cool looking technical layer that can act as an outer layer on mild days or as part of your layering system on days where you plan to cover some distances in the back country.  I love the way this thing looks and feels, lets check it out.

Waterproofing and Breath-ability:  The Marmot Featherless Hybrid jacket isn’t going to be my first choice on a rainy day but this light-weight and breathable insulating layer would be my first choice for some fall hiking, spring skiing or a nice cross-country outing.  This material will not keep you dry in the rain nor is it an appropriate outer-layer for a pow day.  The breath-ability of the Marmot Featherless Hybrid jacket and light insulation are truly the draws to this particular item.

Warmth:  The Marmot Featherless Hybrid jacket has a lightly insulated puffy jacket feel on the around the chest and shoulders while keeping the mid-section light and airy. This strategy gives this jacket great versatility in temperature regulation for those active days.  I would use this as an outer-layer on spring like conditions or wear it as a mid-layer with a shell and thermal base-layer for days around freezing levels.  Colder than that, better find some more insulation somewhere in your layering choices.  To me, the Marmot Featherless Hybrid jacket looks ideal for a day touring in the back-country when you need some insulation with maximum breath-ability.

Fit:  I liked the way the Marmot Featherless Hybrid jacket fit and felt. It had a loose, casual fit with a soft feel. There was unrestricted movement in the back and shoulders. The only thing I could see going wrong with this fit is if you have unusually long arms or torso you might think that it is too short.

Features: 3M™ Thinsulate™ Featherless Insulation; DriClime® Bi-Component Wicking Lining; Pack Pockets; Elastic Drawcord Hem; Elastic Bound Cuffs

Bottom Line: The Marmot Featherless Hybrid jacket is a cool looking and versatile layering layer.  It is light-weight, pack-able, lightly insulated and very breath-able.  Are you thinking about the back country? I am.
