2018 Descente Terro jacket Review by A Better Ski

Today I took a look at the Descente Terro Jacket.  This jacket is a well insulated, highly weatherproof and well crafted jacket, made to keep you warm and dry even in below freezing temperatures.  It has a classic ski jacket look and cut with many features could make it your choice for your next ski jacket. Lets take a look. . .

Waterproofing and Breath-ability:  The Descente Terro Jacket has a 20k waterproofing rating which will allow this jacket to repel water in any conditions except for a full on rain storm.  Under winter conditions, this waterproofing level will keep water from getting in. In the video I commented that the Descente Terro Jacket was lightly insulated jacket but it turns out that it was the breath-ability that allowed it to feel cool.  This jacket will keep both water out while allowing vapor to escape ensuring a dry day on the slopes even for you highly active skiers.

Warmth: The Descente Terro Jacket comes equipped with 3M THINSULATE 100G insulation.  This level is good enough to keep you warm even on days that drop below freezing.  If you added a base-layer and mid-layer, the Descente Terro Jacket can keep you warm down into the single digits.

Fit:  I felt like the Descente Terro Jacket had a classic look and fit. What I mean by this is it has a shorter cut in the length and padded look and large, articulated hood. This jacket fits casually with full range of motion across the chest and shoulders.  For me the hood fit with a helmet was the only thing I didn’t like about the construction of this jacket.  With the zipper all-the-way up there wasn’t enough room for my chin to freely move from side-to-side..

Features: Powder Skirt; Pit Zips; Media Pocket; Inner Mesh Pocket; Wrist, Waist, Hood Adjuster; Removable Hood; Pass Holder; Waterproof Zips; Lycra Cuffs; Full Seam Seal

Bottom Line: The Descente Terro Jacket is a well crafted and well insulated jacket well equipped to handle some of the toughest winter like conditions.  This jacket is for the skier who is looking for performance in their layers to match the performance of your skiing.
