The Dalbello Boss is a great freestyle and all mountain ski boot designed for high performance in a wide last and an adjustable flex. The Boss allows you to change the flex from 100 to 110. This accommodates a wider range of skiers, from less aggressive intermediates to lighter aggressive advanced and expert skiers. With a 103mm last the Boss fits those with a wider foot, but still has a lot of great features typically found in high performance boots. Dalbello designed the Boss with its Cabrio Design Construction which places rigid plastic in the lower shell for better support, while a separate shell tongue allows for a dynamic flex. The Dalbello Boss also has Dynalink technology which places the middle buckle on the lower shell helping to secure the foot better and reduce heel lift or sliding. This helps to ensure better response and more power on the slopes. The Dalbello Boss isn’t the most aggressive boot out there, but I Really like it for it’s adjustability and high performance. With a wide foot you often sacrifice a little bit of performance, but I felt the Dalbello Boss is a boot that is really well done. Comfort was pretty good out of the box, but you may need a little adjustment and customization to really make it work well for you. On the snow, the boot performs really well. The stiff lower shell responds quickly and powerfully to your input. The adjustable flex allows for a bit more customization, but even at the high ed (110) the boot is a bit soft. It’s great for less aggressive skiers, but still provides enough rigidity for more aggressive intermediates and advanced skiers. Dalbello puts several shock absorbing inserts into the upper cuff, heel, and foot, and even when landing big jumps the boot reduces vibrations well. Overall the Dalbello Boss is a great boot for intermediate to advanced freestyle and all mountain skiers.
