Marmot Poacher Pile 2016 Review by A Better Ski

The Marmot Poacher Pile is a warm wool and fleece mid-layer. It would work well under a technical shell. It also works well as a casual around town jacket on cool fall days.

Marmot Poacher Pile Mid-Layer Jacket Review

Tester: Matt

Size: M

Matt’s Specs: Sizing Info

Fit: The Marmot Poacher Pile has a standard fit. It is relatively thick for a fleece jacket so you may want a smaller size for layering under a technical shell.

Features: The Marmot Poacher Pile has a wool outer and fleece inside layer. The wool is itchy, but quite warm overall. As long as you wear a long sleeve base layer underneath that wool scratchiness doesn’t feel bad. The Poacher Pile does have a chest pocket, hand warming pockets, and is full zip.

Best Uses: The Marmot Poacher Pile is a warm mid layer and would be a good casual alternative to a moderately insulated nylon jacket like the Marmot Isotherm Hoody. These fleece/wool mid-layers are also good for a casual day around town on mild days.
