Flylow Ridge 2015 Review by A Better Ski

The Flylow Ridge glove is an all leather “work” glove. It’s similar to the Flylow Tough Guy, but with full leather instead of a polyester backer. This makes the Flylow Ridge slightly warmer than the Tough Guy, and slightly less breathable. These gloves are still super tough. The Flylow Ridge is also triple baked with Sno-Seal to keep them water-resistant (done hands on at the Denver Colorado Headquarters). These aren’t going to be great in wet weather, but for dryer snows like that of Colorado or Utah, the Flylow Ridge usually does well enough. When they do get wet, they can take some time to dry out, and often require another coating of DWR over time. The Flylow Ridge would be pretty good on cooler days, but for the really cold days you’ll probably want a nice liner underneath. The dexterity is pretty good, but the leather can become stiff when it’s really cold. Overall the Flylow Ridge glove is a tough and rugged glove designed to keep your hands protected from sharp ski edges or rocks. It’s a good budget option for those who want a “work” glove in dryer climates. They are not super warm, but should be fine in moderate (+30 degree) temps.

Size Worn: L (Hand Circumference: 8.5 Inches, Hand Length: 7.5 Inches)

What I look for in a glove: My hands run really warm, so I like a glove that isn’t too hot! I really love gloves that have removable liners so I can use them together on really cold days, or use just the shell, or just the liner. I also really like to have dexterity when skiing. I don’t necessarily need a glove that allows me to use my phone, or other small electronics, but I definitely want to be able to buckle my boots, zip my jacket, etc…
