Armada Wedge 2015 Review by A Better Ski

The Armada Wedge Gore-Tex glove is a pretty solid glove, especially when coming in at just $75.00. The Armada Wedge is one of the warmer gloves we’ve tried on. It has 250g of insulation on the back of the hand, and 150g on the front. Not only is this insulation warm, but it also makes the Armada Wedge feel quite comfortable. To ensure your hands stay dry under all that insulation, the Armada Wedge is designed with a highly water-proof Gore-Tex membrane. We haven’t yet had the chance to test it out in really wet weather, but Gore-Tex is definitely tried and true. The inner Bemberg liner of the Armada Wedge is very soft and quite comfortable. Armada also designed the Wedge with their Lazy Fingers shape that keeps your fingers a bit more relaxed. This also helps with dexterity, and although not the best of the category, the Armada Wedge was still good with zippers, buckling boots and grasping ski poles. The leather palm enhances grip, and makes the glove feel a bit more durable than others. I probably wouldn’t want to use them if all I did was ride the tow rope, but they can take some abuse from everyday riding. The only thing we’d like to see on the Armada Wedge is a gauntlet style wrist, but this is more a preference thing than performance. Some folks will love that this isn’t gauntlet style, and the wrist fits nicely under a jacket cuff. We just like gauntlet style for really deep days. We can definitely recommend this glove for any resort skier that might not need anything super technical. It holds up well to cold and snow, and is bomber enough for all but the coldest days on the mountain. It may not be super bomber, but it will be able to put up with some abuse over time.

Size Worn: L (Hand Circumference: 8.5 Inches, Hand Length: 7.5 Inches)
What I look for in a glove: My hands run really warm, so I like a glove that isn’t too hot! I really love gloves that have removable liners so I can use them together on really cold days, or use just the shell, or just the liner. I also really like to have dexterity when skiing. I don’t necessarily need a glove that allows me to use my phone, or other small electronics, but I definitely want to be able to buckle my boots, zip my jacket, etc…
